Before you talk about Fibromyalgia (FMS), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS, CFIDS or ME) and brain fog, you need to explore what is meant by the term brain fog. The complaint is common to both illnesses. If we learn more about it, it won't seem like such an unsolvable puzzle.
BRAIN FOG:
If that describes you, you're not alone.
Having brain fog doesn't mean someone filled up your cranium with pea soup. (Although some days it can feel that way.)
With Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, many people suffer with disordered and dysfunctional: Immune Systems, Cognitive (Neurological Systems), Digestive and Lymph drainage, sleep disorders, etc. The list can go on for quite some time.
Not every person experiences brain fog or cognitive dysfunction, but many people do. Sometimes the symptoms wax and wane because the underlying cause(s) of the symptom may be doing the same thing, waxing and waning in disease severity.
What might cause that? Viral Overload
When you are suffering with viral overload, tough viruses are beating the dickens out of your Immune and Lymph drainage systems. When they're knocked offline in a major way, you're in noticeable trouble. They can cause:
A. Flu-ish or non-well symptoms such as
- feeling as your head is spinning, dizziness
- feeling as if you're trying to think through mud,
- lack of enough energy or inability to read or do anything that involves the brain,
- stuffy head, plus your body feels sluggish and full of fluid, and
- memory and organization skills (word-searching, spacing out, losing geographic directions of where you are or where you're going.
- General hearing, seeing, talking problems
B. Dysfunctional Digestive Systems that are neither digesting food well, nor producing good energy reserves that the body and brain desperately need. This pertuates a state of general body chaos.
C. Sleeping Dysfunctionality that supports neither your brain nor your body.
You're essentially not eating, sleeping or functioning normally and your body feels like the enemy!
