Physical Healing- Is That All We Need to Think About?

There's a good chance that if you're reading this, you may be suffering with poor health or actually be quite sick with Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

As you work at getting healthy, you may wonder about the different components of what is termed, "physical health." None of us want to miss a piece of the puzzle. The accepted, universal concepts of healing include addressing every element of health: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Okay. Let's talk about the physical side first, but consider how it relates to all of the other components.

It's true. We all want to be physically healthy. We want to recover from whatever ails us-- big or small-- and get on with living our lives. No one wants a lingering illness. But what role does the physical side of health play in the overall scheme of our total health package? Is that the main component or just one? Is it the most important part, or, maybe the least?

Let's consider a quote from the renowned book, Ordered to Return: My Life After Dying by George G. Ritchie, MD. "When you get out on the frontiers of human suffering, it throws you (right) back into the arms of God."

(Note: You will find this book in the Cinda Recommends section, right on the front of the website, The Health Matters Show.)

Does the author mean that many times we must seek divine help to fully heal? (Including "physically" heal?) Possibly. Probably, he does. Consider the big picture. God designed our bodies to heal physically and in every other way. But how, you ask? How do we heal?

We have the best chance to heal and be healthy:

1) If all the body's components work properly together. The heart and brain send the right signals to the lungs to breathe and to control the blood pressure. The kidneys filter waste products and keep us from becoming toxic. The Lymph system drains those toxins from the body, thus enabling our Immune system to function well. The Digestive System stops harmful invaders from entering the body through the lining of the colon. The Immune System destroys any organisms that get through and mean to do us harm. And on and on the process goes. Problems arise when one of the component systems goes awry and there is a breakdown in the chain of command.

2) If we remain in constant observance of our role and responsibilities in the healing process. Now what do I mean by that? If you and I eat right, get the right amount of sleep and exercise, we would not only be managing our role as being responsible for our bodies, but we would also be "perfect." And, perfection is hard to come by. None of us eat, drink, rest, work and exercise as we absolutely should. We're human, fallible and we slip up.

- and-

3) If we live in a humble state of appreciation for and worship of the Father. Well, now, most of us do appreciate good health (especially when we look back and see how good our health used to be...) If we revere the source of our health (knowing that it does not originate from us) and appreciate the incredible gift, we will be putting the emphasis in the right place.

And, in case you're wondering, it is necessary to be thankful. After all, when anyone gives us a gift, we thank them, don't we? If we have an illness, that might be an especially good time to be thankful, because in every instance in life where we're challenged, we "learn" a valuable lesson. Every time... unless we're not paying attention and miss the opportunity and blessing completely.

Appreciation and wonder should be our natural responses upon observing the "healing" process at work. When we get down to it, you and I have little control of how this healing process actually works, besides us maintaining a positive attitude, "keeping the faith" and seeking out someone to really help us. Medicine, prescription drugs, shots, surgery are all tools to be used if necessary. However, God designed our bodies to heal themselves.

And, the last part of #3, please don't forget the worship part. Worshipping is a type of adoration, but more so. Worship is an acknowledgement of the "source" of our gifts, but also, acknowledging the unfaltering love of God, the Creator, the Almighty and the perfect healer.

In the ultimate act of showing our appreciation, we revere and trust this godly power that possesses such abilities, thus enabling us mere mortals to be less fearful and to live in a higher state of gratitude, comfort and love. By showing appreciation and worshipping the Father, more positive healing will flow to and through our bodies, thus allowing it to heal that much quicker and in a more complete manner.

With all of these components working together, we have an excellent chance of having a complete physical healing and benefiting from an awesome experience that includes mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, too.

Remember to give thanks. May your healing have already begun!
