Healing: How to Make It Happen

Question: Why should I spend my time and energy researching different kinds of healing methods? Isn't all healing the same?

Answer: There may be several methods to reveal how to heal and the best way to regain your health. Some choices are definitely better than others, however, not all of them will lead directly toward your prime objective, complete healing.

Because the body possesses it's own innate intelligence, it can work with and use all kinds of information. Don't be afraid to look into different healing mechanisms. In the alternative, holisitic health field, there are numerous possibilities.

As my grandma used to say, "There's more than one way to skin a cat."

Long ago when I was extremely ill, I took handfuls of pills to keep going. I went to so many doctor appointments that I lost track. Today, that isn't necessary. Now I take a few supplements to augment my body for continued healing and I rarely visit a physician at all.

What's on your "Health" mind?

As this site progresses, we see that people have a lot of diversified interests and questions. That's logical since both Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are such complicated ailments. Considering that we can suffer with...

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Reality or Hoax?

If you suspected that you had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), went to a doctor or medical professional for help and received only ridicule and put down, the title of this post probably just made your blood boil.

Too many people with bonafide cases of CFS (or similar illnesses like Fibromyalgia, FMS) are treated in such a manner.

Why Did You Get Sick with Fibromyalgia?

If you ask the question--"Why did I get sick with Fibromyalgia?"--that is a $64,000,000 question (forget the old $64,000 game). This is surely the question of the hour, maybe the decade.

Even I answer, "job stress and having been born with a disordered Immune System," when someone asks the question and expects a succinct answer. That's not really true, though. These may have been the precipitating factors and my current life happenings at the time, but not the reason I got sick or why my health went downhill like a falling boulder.

Listen to the 9 min 30 sec Health Matters Show below. In the audio, I digress a bit, but the questions listed here are the main ones to consider. Print them out if that helps you stay on course.

Illness: Can we, Should we, Will we ever accept it?

Recently, I read an article, Accepting Oneself Is Key by Michael C. Blackwell, the president of the Baptist Chilcren's Homes, in that organization's Charity and Children newspaper. I receive it because it's a neat publication and because my family gave to the charity when my mother died in 2005. You see my mom grew up in the Thomasville, NC, facility and doing so enabled her to have a grand life.

As I read Dr. Blackwell's words about accepting oneself, I realize how much you and I can apply his same strategy to healing from Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and a myriad of illnesses. He approaches acceptance from a personal image standpoint. That applies to us because sometimes you and I envision our own body as the enemy! Let's check out his points:

Fatigue: Discover the Facts about Being Tired

If you feel more body "tiredness" than the average person does after an activity, there may be something wrong with your health.

If you're tired before you begin to do something, there probably is something wrong.

If you feel so tired that you can't walk across the room or sit up in a chair --or-- you fear that you don't have enough energy to take your next breath, there is definitely something wrong and it may be a major health problem!

Happy Father's Day to Men with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

No one wants Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). That includes any man who suffers with it.

The percentage of men with CFS isn't nearly as high as the number of women with the illness. But no matter how large the number, no figure speaks to an individual's level of suffering, how his life is diminished or what does or does not lie in his future. Not only are the symptoms tough, but the questions are enough to drive any man mad! (Not really, of course. We don't want anyone to feel that desperate. Know that there is hope.)

Talking Health

Your body not only hears what you say, but it believes it.

The concept that "what you tell yourself is critical" is most apparent and useful if you follow the works of Louise Hay, You Can Heal Your Life, or Karol Truman, author of Feelings Buried Alive Never Die.

(*You can locate the books and movie in the Cinda Recommends section of this website. These resources are valuable in helping you figure out your body's relationship to your lifetime traumas, the resulting illnesses and in figuring out what to do about them. However, let's stick with the basic concept that what you tell yourself is important for just a moment.)

3 Weeks in Your Survival of Fibromyalgia: Week 2 of 3

Fibromyalgia Syndrome is not a terminal condition. Some people get over it and go on with their lives. Some people keep suffering. Others get worse and watch their health decline further.

If Fibromyalgia (as a disease/illness entity) does not kill anyone (meaning it's not terminal), why do so many people never get better?

What do you need to know to have a good chance of improving your life--and maybe--recovering?

What's "fatigue" got to do with it?

If you suffer with fatigue, count yourself among millions of Americans who suffer right along with you. In fact, fatigue is among the most prolific complaints of people going to the doctor. That begs a question... are they merely tired or are they severely fatigued? Often the degree of fatigue provides some indication of the actual, underlying problem causing it. (Hint: Fatigue, other than that from direct physical and mental exertion or related to the hours you've been awake, is not normal. If you have fatigue for no apparent reason, it may point to an underlying problem that deserves your attention.)

Example:

  1. Some fatigue may mean your sleep pattern is being interrupted or your body is weakened from anemia (a low red blood cell count). In your less than optimal state, you might come down with a cold, etc.

  2. A moderate amount of nagging fatigue could point to an unrelenting psychological or emotional problem or the onset of a bigger physical problem (like the beginning stages of a chronic illness.)

  3. Continuing, large volume, life-altering fatigue is the variety where you encounter such illnesses as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, cancer and the like.

As we delve deeper into the word fatigue, we realize that it's a hallmark symptom of many illnesses. Because of that fact, the word is much too common a term to be used in the name of an actual illness like "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)." This causes confusion among patients and professionals alike. Even saying the term, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, makes CFS sound like its sufferers are merely tired all the time (i.e. chronic). Unfortunately, that is only a part of the story.

To My Dad on Father's Day

By the time a man realizes that maybe his father was right, he usually has a son who thinks he's wrong -- Charles Wadsworth

I don't know why I didn't write a post to Mother on Mother's day this year. Mom was always such a powerful and awe-inspiring woman, it seemed like everyone appreciated her every day that she graced this Earth.

But that can't be said of Dad. Dad had obvious faults, but as the years go by I seem to remember them less and less. What I do recall was his character in honest dealings with men, his love of animals and the underlying tenderness that lay beneath the surface of his otherwise gruff exterior.

Dad's been gone for almost 26 years now and he continues to influence my life. I think of him when I've done something he would not be proud of and, then again, when I know he'd smile and say, "Good job." (He didn't hand out compliments often.)

I remember his stick-to-it-iveness for not quitting a task when the going gets tough. How he could always figure out a way to make the things work that he cared about the most.

Dad, thanks. You taught me how to survive and how to be victorious in the end. You see I was listening after all.... Happy Father's Day.

Dramatic Info from Canada

Today I've been researching just what our neighbors to the north are doing and they're doing a lot! Not only do they have a well-developed support network, but they're promoting research, too.

In http://www.fm-cfs.ca/Trillium-Cover.pdf they demonstrate some astounding information. When I think of it in terms of what I've learned in my study of ELT, it makes complete sense.
